The challenging theme for this year's Flower Festival at Wimborne St Giles church was "Something Beginning With ..."

Amazingly, the whole alphabet was represented by a church-full of ingenious and tasteful displays which showed an amazing collaborative project by the whole community.

A delicious range of refreshments and home-made cakes were available throughout the Festival.

The Woodlands Flower and Arts Festival  29th/30th June 2024

Two days of stunning beauty, delicious cakes and community spirit.

The combination of fragrant flowers, beautiful arts, diverse craft and produce stalls, as well as delicious homemade cakes has made the event a resounding success.

All money raised from more than 400 visitors will go towards maintenance, renovation and restoration of the historic Grade II listed Woodlands Church of the Ascension. We are so blessed to have such a stunning historically significant building in our village.

Ascension Day tradition from years past

"I started the top of the tower tradition in 1977 and about a dozen of us climbed to the top at 8am in the morning. Peter would stop his milk delivery in the village and climb to the top with his trumpet with me just ahead of him with Kings College Cambridge Choir. We would sing ‘Hail the Day that sees him rise’ and sing lustily to it. Clara Pitman (God rest her soul) always insisted we should use the “other tune”!" Robert Prance
